Funny Story...

Funny story, hehe......

At a babysitting job yesterday from 4-6. I get home and walk in, expecting to see my dog assaulting me from the floor, so I looked down. Instead I am met with a scream from about 32 people, "Surprise!"

Scared me to death.

Turns out, even the babysitting job was a set-up. My kind mother took ten dollars from my own wallet and gave it to the mother to pay me.

But, I cannot complain. That party was the best part of my entire birthday so far (the rest has not happened yet). Thanks so much to my wonderful sister who planned most of it. Thanks to all my wonderful friends who were at it.

I love you guys!

"Place Name Here"

For this post, I'm going to sneak peek the prologue of a book that my friend and I are writing (Margaret, I hope this is ok with you... :D). Since we haven't thought of a name yet, we've been calling it "Place Name Here".

So without further ado, the beginning of, "Place Name Here".

The cool breeze set his heart in a flurry. The sense in the air was surreal. The atmosphere outside of his body was soothing, but inside he was being torn from limb to limb. Finnegan struggled to understand why. Why they were all gone. What had happened to all his loved ones? The ones he cared for since he was a young boy. They all disappeared.

Finnegan stood on the edge of a cliff. The wind almost knocked him from the rim. He could feel the earth about to cry out in horror with him. He let out a terrifying cry from the very depths of his throat. His voice bounced off the surrounding mountains, crying back to him. A single lonely tear spilled from his eye. It traveled down his shaking face. He didn’t bother to conceal his tears. Finnegan collapsed to the dirt-covered ground, trembling. The skies opened up and poured their tears onto the mourning world below.

Another part of the book:

“The army! The army! Boy, you listen closely! If you lie one more time I’ll…”

“I’m not lying! They took her! They took all of them!”

“You expect me to believe they took her and not you? Fool,” the man shouted.

“They tried to take me but I escaped. Sabina was not so lucky. Please, you have to believe me! It’s the truth!” Finnegan pleaded.

The man looked to the guard. “There is a battle about to emerge, sire. He could be telling the truth. I know my hometown was ravaged for soldiers. It could be true, sire.”

The man huffed and turned to face Finnegan. “We will follow this so called army. You will come with us. If we do not find your sister, you-” he grinned evilly, “will face a punishment worse than death.”

Finnegan gulped. He could not imagine what this man would do to him if Sabina was not found.

The man said, “We will not need this one-“ he pointed at Leila. “Kill her.” The guard beside Leila raised his blade, ready to strike at any instant. Finnegan screamed, “NOOOO!”

A blade sliced through the air and came down on flesh.

_________________________________________________________________________

Finnegan woke. His first thought was Leila. He tried to sit up, but some unseen force stopped him. He looked to his side through a haze of fog and saw the stakes driven into the floor, felt the ropes that bound his hands and feet. He gave a cry of desperation and thrashed fruitlessly.

After several minutes of unsuccessful efforts, he relaxed and looked at his surroundings. He was lying on a thin blanket, which didn’t at all mask the hardness of the packed earth floor. His hands and feet were tied securely to the stakes, keeping him from moving at all. The ropes that bound him were thick and tight, and he winced as he felt the chafed skin underneath, a painful result of his escape effort. Sweat mixed with blood and tears dripped into his eyes, burning them.

He couldn’t think about any of these things right now. All he could think about was- Leila. Dear Leila. Sweet Leila. Beautiful Leila. He must have passed out when she was struck, because he remembered nothing but the raised sword. He tried to find some way out of the truth, but he couldn’t. The blow was too harsh, the guard too strong. She was gone.

Madeline Martin!

Our final guest post that we've all been waiting for..... Madeline Martin, winner of the Make-A-Contest contest a while back.

Hi guys! So I'm Madeline, and I won the contest, so I'm writing a blogpost.

I have a blog called madelineisabella.blogspot.com, and its all of my photography. I'm not an amazing photographer, but its something I love to do, and I'm hoping for it to be my career.

One of my favorite quotes is, "You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, and the people you have loved." -Ansel Adams

My goal with my photography is to have it speak to people; to show the details that aren't normally seen. I hope that my photography does that.

Louie

And for our second guest post, Marigrace Grow!

Hey guys! My name is Marigrace, and I live in Fairfield, Virginia. (nobody stalk me!!!!!)

For this awesome experience I am going to talk about my horse Louie. Please keep reading!
In 2007 Louie was in a barn fire. Only he and one other horse survived and made it out of the barn. Louie ran from the barn but was caught. He was either given or sold to the barn where I rode at at the time. I rode him a couple of times and liked it. I had begged my parents for a horse but they had always said no. I knew something was going on because they were talking to the barn owner and my trainer a lot. This was 2008 and that year for Christmas I got this picture...
The frame said,"family." I was so excited and we went to see him that day. I have had him ever since and he is an adorable pony!!!Thanks for writing, Marigrace!

Isaac's geeky ramble variety show power hour extravaganza reality drama special!

I now hand the mic to Isaac Lewis, the first contest winner to send me his guest post.

...

...

........hi.

My name's Isaac.
This is my blog post, if you haven't noticed. Today I'm going to talk about geeky things. This blog claims to be a place of geeky ramblings, but there was only one post that actually discussed geeky topics (it was about the biggest thing in the universe).

Topic 1: Physics.
So Schroedinger and Heisenberg are driving in a car. Heisenberg is driving, and they get pulled over. The cop asks him "do you know how fast you were going?!" And he says "no, but I can tell you exactly where I was."
Hahaha
So then the cop considers this strange answer grounds for a search. So he searches the car and finds a dead cat in the trunk, and he says to Schroedinger "Do you know that there's a dead cat in the trunk?!" And Schroedinger replies "Well I know now."
What you don't know what that means? Ugh. Here Heisenberg and Schroedinger.
Okay, I have one more physics joke. So a Higgs boson walks into a Catholic church and the priest says "we don't allow your kind here, you call yourself The God Particle, that's sacrilegious!" And the Higgs boson says back "if you don't allow the Higgs boson, how do you have mass?"

Topic 2: Nerdy Music.

When it comes to nerd music there are nearly countless options, the whole genres of Nerdcore and Wizard Rock obviously fall into this category. But I'm here to talk about my three favorites, in no particular order.
Hank Green.
He's the guy you saw in the video above about Schroedingers cat. He is a veteran and MVP YouTuber. Him and his brother John together are the Vlogbrothers, a duo that inspired the online community of Nerdfighteria. John is a best selling author, and Hank(among many many other things) is a musician who writes nerdy music. Listen to his song Strange Charm.
Weird Al.
Weird Al is THE nerd musician. He's been spewing out hit parodies as well as originals since the 80s. He needs no description more than his music can speak for him. Just listen to as much of it as you can.
Jonathan Coulton.
I am a more recent fan of his work, so I may not be able to give a very detailed background, but I'll try. Making albums since 2003, Coulton first attained mainstream success in 2006-7 when he released four albums in close vicinity and wrote the humorous credit song for the cult classic video game Portal, called 'Still Alive'. However, in recent news he was blatantly plagiarized by the sub-par Fox television show Glee. In one of his 2006 releases, he covered Sir Mixalots 1990s hip hop classic "Baby Got Back" with an original melody and arrangement, featuring banjos and guitar. Recently, Glee covered this song, with the same melody and arrangement as Coulton's original cover, yet giving Coulton no attribution or compensation whatsoever. Coulton commented "classy", in reference to Fox's actions(via Twitter). I would suggest you listen to his song Re:Your Brains or The Future Soon.

Topic 3: Isaac's Narcissistic Spontaneity
I am awesome. That's what got me here. You don't get on Ashley's blog easily. I took an awesome picture (that should have WON) and I got to write an awesome post. So you should give me the respect my apparent awesomeness has won--nay--earned! Follow my on twitter @Guysaac, and on Tumblr stuffthatguysaaclikes.tumblr.com, and my blog guysaac.wordpress.com. I'm also on numerous other social media websites as Guysaac. Follow/friend/subscribe/like me on all of them. And for the love of Gonzo stop using Pinterest.

Isaac out!
